Episode 10, If it feels like your critical voice is on overdrive as you hit middle age, you need to hear this.

Maybe your critical voice has already been running your life all these years, pushing you to try diet after diet, workout after workout, without feeling like any of it makes a difference.

This week on the Savor Food and Body Podcast, I’m talking with Connie Sobczak, author, and co-founder of The Body Positive who is also the queen of helping people embrace their critical voice rather than get run over by it.

Connie is the author of Embody: Learning to Love Your Unique Body (and quiet that critical voice!), the book in which she skillfully and lovingly reconnects readers to their precious bodies, life force, and authentic beauty.

Listen to how Connie’s experience with an eating disorder in her teen years and the death of her sister Stephanie fueled her desire to create a new world for her daughter Carmen to grow up in; one where all people are free to love their bodies.

In 1996, she co-founded The Body Positive, a nonprofit organization that teaches people to listen to their bodies, learn, and thrive. As a result, tens of thousands of people have been given practical tools to develop balanced, joyful self-care and a relationship with their bodies that is guided by love, forgiveness, and humor.

In Connie’s 2021 TEDx Talk, Embracing Your Critical Voice: The Gateway to Self-love, she shares her painful yet powerful journey to self-love, and offers ways for others to get there as well. Connie’s passion is watching the light that emerges when people recognize and embrace their magnificent selves.

Today Connie embraces all of the 5 competencies of the Body Positive Model in her own life while she embraces the aging process as a woman in her 60s. Her latest project, due out in the fall of 2021, centers on inspiring other middle-aged women to reconnect with their intuition, create community, and embrace their authentic beauty.
